The Woody Guthrie Center opened last weekend in Tulsa. I highly recommend a tour. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is! On that note, have you guys heard this song? How have I never heard this? It is so freaking good!!
That was absolutely amazing. I've never heard that before but I want to start exploring it now. I've been listening to a lot of Hank Williams lately and I think this scratches a similar itch. Any time I need to remind myself how lucky I am to be born a white male in 21st century America, this is the stuff!
Billy Bragg has been a huge influence on what I listen to for a long time. Since late high school or early college. He sang the lyrics on Mermaid Avenue and opened America back up to songs of old. This music speaks directly to the great plains spirit that resides deep within my soul. I did nothing to tame them, but it happened so recently in American History that I can some how relate to it on a deep level.
